PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Hume (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Judas Lucifer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucifer has chosen Highwayman as his entrance music. Judas Lucifer told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Desmond Hume! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Judas Lucifer! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hume shoots in and gets a takedown into Lucifer's guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Hume loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hume throws a big right hand that misses. Lucifer managing to control the position. Hume trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hume is looking to work some ground and pound but Lucifer has wrist control. Lucifer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lucifer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hume distracts Lucifer with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lucifer pulls Hume in close to his closed guard and prevents Hume from doing any damage or advancing position. Hume wants to pass the guard but Lucifer is keeping the position. Lucifer wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Judas Lucifer was stalling too much, according to the referee. Lucifer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hume. Hume throws a head kick that Lucifer semi-blocks.
Lucifer gets tackled into the cage by Hume. Hume maintains the clinch. Lucifer lands an elbow inside that Hume shrugs off.
It looks like Desmond Hume has been cut. Hume with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Lucifer throws an elbow that misses.
Hume drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lucifer pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lucifer fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Hume just misses with a punch to the body.
A head kick misses from Hume. Lucifer walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hume checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hume tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lucifer paws at him with a jab and circles away. Hume throws a head kick that misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Lucifer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Lucifer throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Hume tries a head kick but it misses.
Lucifer avoids the head kick by Hume.
Hume buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lucifer looks to land a body kick but Hume moved away. Hume lands a nice looking kick to the body. Lucifer takes a step back to recover. Hume looks to throw a body kick and Lucifer counters with a nice uppercut. Lucifer has Hume up against the cage in a clinch.
Lucifer throws an elbow but it's blocked.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lucifer using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hume has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Lucifer will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Hume up against the cage. Lucifer lands with a short head shot on the inside. Lucifer creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Hume is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lucifer is defending well for now. Lucifer is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Hume misses with a knee strike.
Lucifer lands a good knee to the midsection. Hume won't want to take too many of those. Hume is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lucifer works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Lucifer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hume works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lucifer throwing strikes from guard but Hume blocks nicely. Hume keeping moving, preventing Lucifer from controlling successfully. Lucifer controls from within his opponent's guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lucifer throwing strikes from guard but Hume blocks nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Judas Lucifer dominated that round. The cut man is working on Desmond Hume's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lucifer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hume momentarily.
Hume is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hume tries to clinch but Lucifer is having none of it. Hume avoids a kick to the body.
Lucifer forces Hume back against the cage and clinches. Hume has Lucifer pressed against the cage.
Lucifer tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hume avoids it. Lucifer creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Hume's defenses. Hume using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Lucifer has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Lucifer looks to throw an elbow but misses. Hume with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Lucifer lands an elbow just above Hume 's eye.
Desmond Hume's cut is getting worse.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hume is looking to control Lucifer's arms but Lucifer gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hume has his back to the cage. Lucifer swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Lucifer lands an elbow inside.
Hume is rocked!
Desmond Hume's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Hume tries to land knees in the clinch but Lucifer avoids the damage to the body. Oh Hume is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Lucifer lands an elbow just above Hume 's eye.
Jeez, Desmond Hume's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Desmond Hume's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Judas Lucifer! A determined Judas Lucifer didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
