Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Shields seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wietrzny does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Wietrzny slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Shields trying to control but Wietrzny is working from the bottom.
Wietrzny is looking for a triangle here but Shields uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Wietrzny is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Shields is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Shields in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Shields lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shields is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wietrzny is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Shields has Wietrzny flattened out and is raining down punches.
Wietrzny just trying to survive but Shields is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Shields looking to break Wietrzny's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Wietrzny remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Shields will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Shields tries to get the hooks in deep but Wietrzny pushed the leg off.
Shields is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Wietrzny is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Shields off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Shields is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Shields wants to control but Wietrzny manages to buck him off and is now in Shields's guard! Nice work there by Wietrzny!

Shields wants to sweep here but Wietrzny controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wietrzny wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shields, who protects the arm well.
Wietrzny tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wietrzny has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Wietrzny swings around for an armbar but Shields sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wietrzny's guard.

Wietrzny is looking for a triangle here but Shields uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Shields stands up and beckons Wietrzny to his feet.
Wietrzny stuffs the takedown.
Wietrzny closes the distance and pushes Shields back into the cage.
Wietrzny has hold of one of Shields's legs. Shields is fighting the takedown attempt but Wietrzny gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wietrzny stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shields swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shields not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wietrzny must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Wietrzny drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shields manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wietrzny has Shields in his guard.
Wietrzny working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shields doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Wietrzny is tightening it up a little... Shields has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Shields reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Shields taps out! Nice BJJ there by Wietrzny!
