Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mike Swanton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heiwajima Shizuo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shizuo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Trollhammaren. Mike Swanton had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Swanton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Heiwajima Shizuo!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swanton keeps the fight on the outside.
Swanton blocks a head kick by Shizuo.
Shizuo tries to clinch up but Swanton circles away and keeps his distance.

and Swanton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Shizuo won't be happy with that.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Swanton throws a strike aimed at the side of Shizuo's head but Shizuo avoids it well.
Swanton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Swanton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Swanton creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Shizuo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Swanton goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Shizuo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Swanton but great work by Shizuo.

Swanton uses his free foot to push down on Shizuo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shizuo.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Swanton is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shizuo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

A big strike lands for Swanton! That's really hurt Shizuo and he's turned his back - Swanton keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Swanton jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
