Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dakota Royer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Royer comes into the arena with Speak Militant- Sabac Red blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dakota Royer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Royer throws a body kick that misses.
Royer walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Okabe checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Royer throws a body kick that misses.
Royer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Okabe.
A clash of legs there as Okabe blocks the low kick.

Okabe forces Royer back against the cage and clinches.
Okabe tries for a takedown. No joy.
Royer is pushing Okabe up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Okabe goes for a takedown in the clinch but Royer prevents it.

Okabe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Okabe scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Okabe throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Royer throws a quick inside leg kick.
Royer is looking to score with low kicks.
Okabe takes a kick to the side of the head.
Okabe just misses with a punch to the body.
Royer misses with the combination.
Okabe slips a straight right by Royer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Royer feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Okabe's calf.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Royer.
Okabe tries to move into range but Royer moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Okabe misses with a hook to the body
and Royer counters with a nice leg kick.
Okabe takes a jab right on the kisser.
Okabe tries to clinch up but Royer circles away and keeps his distance.
Okabe ducks under a wild hook from Royer.
Okabe closes the distance and clinches up with Royer, looking for a takedown. Okabe pushes Royer against the cage but Royer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dakota Royer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Okabe.
Okabe avoids a kick to the body.
A jab from Okabe misses.
Royer misses with a looping right.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Okabe checks a leg kick.
Okabe takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Royer throws a wild body kick that Okabe sees coming a mile off.
Okabe avoids the head kick by Royer.
Royer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dakota Royer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Royer missing with a left hand there. Okabe was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Royer scores with a leg kick.
Royer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Royer throws a head kick that Okabe semi-blocks.
Okabe shoots in and drives through. Royer sprawls well.

enabling Okabe to counter with a crisp jab.
Okabe chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Royer can pounce on him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Royer takes a swing at Okabe's ribcage but misses.
Okabe swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Okabe throws a poor cross that misses
and Royer counters with a slapping leg kick.
Okabe jabs at Royer's body.
Okabe digs a good body shot into Royer's ribs.
Royer throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Okabe counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Royer has hold of Okabe's hands but Okabe slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Okabe works his way into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakota Royer dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Okabe wants to clinch up but Royer keeps it at a distance.
Okabe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Royer moves away.
Okabe shoots for a takedown but Royer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Royer.
Royer misses the shot to the body.
A good leg kick by Royer.
Okabe takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Okabe moves out of range as Royer throws a body kick.
Okabe swings and misses with a shot to the body
letting Royer counter with a right hand.

Royer connects with a right hand. Okabe shakes it off.
A chopping leg kick lands by Royer.
Okabe is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Royer rather than just go for the knockout.
Okabe fails with a takedown attempt.
Okabe keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Okabe takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Okabe moves out of range as Royer strikes.
Good leg kick by Royer there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Okabe's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Royer moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Royer stuffs the takedown.
Dakota Royer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Okabe.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Royer is looking to slow Okabe down with leg kicks.
Royer lands with a thumping leg kick.
Okabe is breathing heavily.
A telegraphed right hand from Okabe misses the target.
Okabe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Royer takes a swing at Okabe's ribcage but misses.

Okabe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Okabe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Crunch! Royer slams his shin into Okabe's torso.
Okabe has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Okabe there as he acknowledges the shot.
Royer attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Okabe scores with a takedown into Royer's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Okabe tries to free his leg and advance position but Royer is retaining full guard.

Okabe trying to control but Royer is working from the bottom.

Okabe works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakota Royer dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Okabe shoots and misses
and Royer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Okabe dives in and grabs Royer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Royer pushes down on Okabe's head and hops out.
Okabe has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Royer.
Okabe swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Royer lands a right hook to the body.
Royer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Okabe.
Royer tries to work over Okabe's front leg with a kick but Okabe checks it.
Royer thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Okabe if he has to take too many more of those.
Dakota Royer is winning the standup battle so far.
Royer throws a combination. Okabe tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Royer takes a swing at Okabe's ribcage but misses.
Okabe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Royer lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Okabe moves away from the strike by Royer.
Royer misses with a head kick.
Okabe on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Royer throws a low kick but it's checked well by Okabe.
Royer scores with a leg kick.
Okabe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Royer as he jumps to the side.

Royer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kenji Okabe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dakota Royer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A jab lands there for Royer.
Okabe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Royer sprawls well. Royer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Okabe gets slowly back to his feet.
Royer throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nice takedown defense from Royer. No joy for Okabe on that attempt.
Okabe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Royer's waist but Royer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Okabe off to one side.
Royer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Okabe can do to turn this around?
A decent looking cross lands there for Royer.
Royer slips under a jab from Okabe.
Okabe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Royer lands a head shot.
A slapping body kick lands there for Royer.
Royer's jab looks to have found its range, popping Okabe under the eye.
Okabe thuds a left hand into Royer's body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Okabe. Royer does a little dance to reset his feet.

Royer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Okabe.
Royer throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Royer throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Crunch! Royer slams his shin into Okabe's torso.
Royer throws a leg kick which misses Okabe's front leg but catches the back leg as Okabe tries to avoid it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Royer scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Okabe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Royer manages to avoid it.
Okabe takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dakota Royer showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Royer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
