Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mihail Santa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 20 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mirzai Navozov! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Navozov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Navozov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Santa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Santa breaks the clinch.
Santa closes the distance and clinches. Navozov is fighting off a takedown attempt but Santa is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Navozov to the mat. Navozov regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Santa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Santa passes into half guard. Still in half guard, Santa seems content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mihail Santa wasn't doing enough on the ground. Navozov throws a low kick, looking for Santa's leg but Santa calmly moves out of range. Navozov stuffs the takedown attempt from Santa. Santa gets slowly back to his feet. Santa looks for a takedown but Navozov sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mihail Santa. That's going to take a lot out of him. A kick lands to the mid section there for Santa. Santa fails with a takedown attempt. Santa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Navozov misses with a head kick.
Santa moves into the clinch. Navozov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santa pulls guard effortlessly. Santa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Santa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Santa cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Santa controlling the position easily from mount. Santa putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santa has control of Navozov's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Navozov regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Navozov takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Santa controlling his opponent. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Navozov is in a horrible position here. Santa smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Navozov defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Santa. Santa wants to finish this one by submission but Navozov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Santa. Santa controlling from mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Santa working the ground and pound effectively.

Mihail Santa dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A telegraphed right hand from Navozov misses the target. Navozov scores with a slapping inside leg kick. A decent looking body kick lands there for Santa. Navozov takes a shot right to the bread basket. The fight moves into the clinch position. Santa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Navozov avoids the head kick by Santa.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santa gets control of Navozov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Santa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Navozov is breathing heavily. Santa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Navozov's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santa showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Santa gets to his feet - Navozov follows without any prompting. Santa looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Santa takes the fight into the clinch. Santa pulls Navozov into guard.
Santa is adopting a defensive guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santa throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Mihail Santa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santa looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Santa holds on and takes a little breather. Santa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! That's three minutes gone in the round. Santa cracks Navozov with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Santa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Navozov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santa somewhat. Navozov pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Santa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Navozov uses from the top position. Santa trying to control the position here. Navozov is sitting in close to Santa's body. Santa has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Navozov is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Navozov is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Santa.
