Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yin Tao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tao has chosen Philip Bailey - Walking on the Chinese Wall as his entrance music. Yin Tao will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yin Tao!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Tao finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tao avoids it really well and circles away.
Tao scores with a kick to the midsection.
Tao goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tao's jab looks to have found its range, popping Smith under the eye.
Smith shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Tao counters with a nice leg kick.
Tao delivers a nice body kick.
Tao lands a jab to Smith's midsection.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Tao which made him look bad.

Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Tao, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Tao against the cage but Tao circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith shoots in but no luck this time.
Tao clobbers Smith with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Tao lands with a slapping head kick.
Tao scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Smith doesn't seem bothered though.

Tao dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Smith. That did some damage!
Smith steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Tao. That one must have hurt.
Smith is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tao scores with a sloppy right hand. Smith should have avoided that one.
Tao throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Smith on the side of the head.
Tao scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Smith doesn't seem bothered though.
Tao thumps Smith with a low kick.
Tao swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Smith.
Smith tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Smith tries to keep at a distance but Tao has taken the fight into the clinch.

Smith is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Tao lands a nice elbow.
Tao gets underhooks to prevent Smith's takedown attempt.
Tao connects with a knee to the head.

Still in the clinch, Tao scores with a nice short uppercut.
Tao comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Tao pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Tao manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Tao thows a body kick. Smith tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Tao connects with a nice looking jab.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Smith. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Tao throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tao lands a nice hook to Smith's body. Smith takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Yin Tao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Tao lets loose with a powerful body kick. Smith will feel that in the morning.

Tao lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
An inside leg kick lands from Tao.
Smith has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Tao.
Tao paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yin Tao dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tao as he avoids it easily.

Tao has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tao buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Smith takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tao fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Tao throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Smith seems to have got his legs back now.
Smith chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tao can pounce on him.
Tao fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Smith.

Tao feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Smith sprawling to the canvas! Smith rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Tao finish him?!
Tao steps in with a hook that catches Smith right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Tao follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Smith looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yin Tao! Yin Tao retains his welterweight title!
During a confident post fight interview, Yin Tao thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
