Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Germano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Frye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Germano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cameron Frye!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frye shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Germano but Germano pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Germano closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Germano wants to stand but Frye has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Frye controls Germano momentarily but Germano frees himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Frye misses with a takedown attempt

and Germano counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Germano is breathing heavily.
Germano looking to sit in guard and control but Frye gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Frye works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Germano won't allow Frye to pass to mount.

Frye drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Frye jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Germano is trying to control the position but Frye postures up.
Germano is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Frye wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Germano, who protects the arm well.

Germano avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Frye.

Frye is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Germano knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That was a close round but I would say that Eric Germano will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Eric Germano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cameron Frye.

and Germano counters with a three punch combo that has Frye backing up. Frye nods at Germano to acknowledge the strikes.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Frye is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Frye moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Germano has worked his arm free - good work by Germano!

Germano is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Frye off and has taken his back!
Germano has good solid back control here.
Frye trying to control the action but Germano just sinks the hooks in.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Germano has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Frye has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Frye tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Frye defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Germano's arms.

Frye is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Germano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frye swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Frye had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Germano is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Frye Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Germano's back instead.
Germano tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

That was a close second round but I would say that Eric Germano will probably get the nod.

Frye gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Germano tries to kick Frye off but Frye keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Germano lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Frye shoots and misses

Eric Germano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eric Germano.
Well Germano has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
