Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kane Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muay Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane Alves had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kane Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Muay Gracie!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie shoots in and bounces Alves off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gracie is stalling in the full guard.

Alves uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Alves swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gracie dodges the punch combination from Alves.
Alves's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Alves duly obliges.
Alves rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gracie takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gracie tries to clinch there but Alves circles away.
Alves tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alves throws a combination. Gracie tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alves throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease.
Alves lands a jab-cross combination.
Alves lands with a shot to the body.
Alves goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Some wild striking there from Alves.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gracie lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Alves has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Alves and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Alves connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gracie momentarily.
Gracie takes a jab right on the kisser.
Gracie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gracie has a takedown stuffed.
Alves throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Alves!
Alves throws a right and a left that both miss.
Alves misses the jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gracie clinches with his opponent.
Gracie missing with knees to the body.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Alves misses with a two punch combination.
Alves jabs Gracie right on the nose. Gracie blinks but takes it well.
Alves fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Gracie controlling his opponent.
Alves wants to get back to his feet.
Alves is breathing heavily.
Gracie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Gracie has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Alves looks a forlorn figure.
Gracie landing punches.
Gracie looking to control but Alves is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Alves is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Gracie landing strikes from the mount and Alves is in trouble!
Gracie with a couple of short strikes.
Gracie is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Alves can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
You get the feeling that Alves really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Alves swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Alves wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Gracie jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Alves is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Alves and Gracie has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Alves is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gracie has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Alves being controlled for a moment.
Alves regains half guard there - taking advantage of Gracie's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Muay Gracie dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Gracie throws a right and a left that Alves avoids nicely.
Alves keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alves fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Alves scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Gracie takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Gracie on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Alves scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gracie doesn't seem bothered though.
Alves throws a right and a left that both miss.

Gracie clinches up against the cage.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A jab lands there for Alves.
Alves works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Alves bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gracie's head backwards.
Gracie needs to keep his hands up - Alves had a free shot at his head there.

Alves fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gracie looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Alves lands an overhand right.
Alves throws a combination. Gracie tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Alves will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves misses with the combination.
Gracie takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gracie throws a head kick but Alves moves out of range.
Alves throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Alves throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gracie gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Alves tries to break the clinch but Gracie is controlling the position.
Gracie slows down the pace here.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Alves is trying to break the clinch but Gracie has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alves wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Alves can't break the clinch.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alves doesn't manage to clinch there - Gracie circles away.
Kane Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie throws a head kick that misses.
Alves swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Alves connects with the punch.
Gracie takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
No luck for Gracie with that takedown attempt.
Kane Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Muay Gracie.

Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Alves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gracie.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but Alves saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A shot to the body from Gracie misses
and Alves counters with a series of strikes. Gracie will be more careful next time no doubt.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alves but Alves pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gracie darts in and clinches Alves up against the cage.

Gracie successfully pulls guard.

Alves avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gracie is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alves is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alves gets to his feet. Gracie looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kane Alves dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Alves throws a combination. Gracie tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Alves.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alves to the mat! Alves manages to get full guard.
Alves can't keep his opponent in guard - Gracie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gracie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alves does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Gracie not doing much here.
Alves tries to kick Gracie off in order to stand up. Gracie Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gracie decides to stand back up. Gracie steps back and let's Alves get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense.
Alves misses with a jab, cross combination.
Alves displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
A bone on bone clash there as Gracie blocks the leg kick.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Alves scores with a one two! Gracie had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Gracie. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Gracie moves into range and clinches up with Alves.
Alves wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Alves is looking to break free of the clinch but Gracie has double underhooks.

Alves scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one.
Alves scores with a hook to the body. Gracie takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Alves ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gracie moves away.
Alves takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alves's waist but Alves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
Kane Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Muay Gracie.
Gracie moves in looking to clinch but Alves pushes him off.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alves to the mat! Alves manages to get full guard.

Alves throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease.

Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alves swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Gracie throws a lazy right hand but Alves sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alves pushes Gracie away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gracie gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Alves takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alves is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Gracie drags him back down.

Gracie has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Alves tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alves manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gracie has closed the distance and engaged Alves in a clinch.
Alves wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gracie has him pressed against the cage.
Gracie is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Alves tries to pull guard but Gracie holds him up against the cage and eventually Alves drops back down to his feet.
Alves is looking to break free of the clinch but Gracie has double underhooks.
Alves wants to break the clinch but can't.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Gracie closes the distance and clinches.
Alves is trying to break the clinch but Gracie has him pressed against the cage.
Alves wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gracie has him pressed against the cage.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Alves throws a low kick but it's checked well by Gracie.
Alves misses with a straight left.

Gracie wants to clinch.
Alves tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

And that's the end of the fight!
Muay Gracie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gracie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
