The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Winter looking to score a takedown here. Holiday is defending well but Winter drives through and ends up in Holiday's guard. Winter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Winter postures up.
Winter trying to control the position from guard on top but Holiday is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Holiday pulls Winter in to control the position. Winter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Holiday works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Winter throwing strikes but missing. Holiday wants to stand but Winter is controlling the position. Holiday pulls Winter in to control the position.
Manny Holiday has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Holiday tries to clinch up.

Winter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holiday swivels though and keeps the full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Holiday looking to control but Winter passes into half guard.
Winter is looking for a kimura but Holiday is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Winter to get the leverage. Holiday is trying to maintain the position but Winter is very close to passing his half guard. Nice strikes from Winter there.

Winter drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Holiday manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Winter has Holiday in his guard.

Is it all over??? No! Winter has escaped and now he's on top! Holiday is trying to keep Winter in close.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Holiday has Winter pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Manny Holiday wasn't doing enough on the ground. Winter shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Holiday napping and manages to drive through into side control! Winter working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Winter swings around for an armbar but Holiday sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Winter's guard. Holiday throwing strikes from guard but Winter blocks nicely. Holiday stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winter swivels though and keeps the full guard. Holiday trying to control the position from guard on top but Winter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Holiday missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Winter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Winter trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Holiday trying to control but Winter is working from the bottom. Holiday looking to pass the guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. The fight moves into the clinch position. Holiday has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Winter clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Holiday looking for the choke but no joy. Holiday is looking for a choke. Winter gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Winter manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Winter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Manny Holiday will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
