The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gil misses with a takedown
and Cozad cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cozad throws a right hand that misses
so Gil counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Cozad had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gil defends it easily.
Cozad is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gil is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cozad is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cozad has escaped and now he's on top!
Cozad throws a big elbow that misses.
Cozad drops back looking for a leg! Gil is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gil manages to kick Cozad off! Cozad jumps back into Gil's guard.
Gil is pulling down on Cozad's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cozad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gil swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cozad trying to control the position from guard on top but Gil is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gil bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cozad's guard.
Gil missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gil cracks Cozad with a solid left hand.
Gil postures up and lands a big shot to Cozad's brow.
Gil working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gil lying in Cozad's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Cozad decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Gil taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
