Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Timu Puruunen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Bailey! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Puruunen checks a leg kick. Puruunen looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Bailey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Puruunen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bailey somewhat. Bailey shoots in but Puruunen avoids the takedown attempt easily. Puruunen wants to clinch up but Bailey keeps it at a distance. Puruunen stuffs the takedown attempt from Bailey. Bailey gets slowly back to his feet. Timu Puruunen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Bailey. Bailey shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Puruunen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Puruunen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bailey controls the pace. Bailey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Puruunen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bailey stays in close to Puruunen's body and controls the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bailey tries to free his leg and advance position but Puruunen is retaining full guard. Bailey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Bob Bailey was stalling too much, according to the referee. Bailey closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Puruunen quickly recovers to half guard. Puruunen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Puruunen tries to get out of the position. Bailey controlling the action here. Puruunen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bailey performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Bailey moves into full mount! Puruunen won't be happy about that! Bailey lands a big shot there that rocks Puruunen but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Bailey content just to control the position here. Bailey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bailey. Bailey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puruunen pinned against the cage. Puruunen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Puruunen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bailey swats him away and circles back towards the center. Bailey scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Bailey controls the position. Bailey's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bob Bailey was stalling too much, according to the referee. Bailey shoots in and drives through. Puruunen sprawls well. Timu Puruunen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Bailey. Puruunen stuffs the takedown attempt from Bailey. Bailey gets slowly back to his feet. Bailey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Puruunen sprawls well. Puruunen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Puruunen moves away from the strike by Bailey. No luck with that takedown attempt from Bailey. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Bailey throws a looping overhand right but Puruunen ducks down to avoid it. Bailey shoots in for a double leg but Puruunen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Timu Puruunen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice sprawl there from Puruunen as Bailey shoots in. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bailey. Bailey fails with the takedown. Bailey throws a right and a left that both miss. Bailey is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Puruunen's half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bailey is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bob Bailey has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Bailey shoots in for a takedown but Puruunen shows good takedown defense. Bailey tries for a takedown but Puruunen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Bailey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Bailey avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bailey shoots for a double leg takedown but Puruunen sprawls well. He's pushed Bailey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bailey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puruunen pinned against the cage. Puruunen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Bailey feints and as Puruunen raises his hands in defense, Bailey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bailey content to stall in guard here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Bailey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Bob Bailey is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Bailey controlling his opponent. Timu Puruunen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Let's hope that Bailey has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that's the end of the fight! Bob Bailey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Bailey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
