Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Rambo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dave Worstel! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Worstel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rambo but Rambo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Worstel shoots for a double leg takedown but Rambo sprawls well. He's pushed Worstel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rambo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Worstel to the mat! Worstel manages to get full guard. Rambo drops back looking for a leg! Worstel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Worstel manages to kick Rambo off! Rambo jumps back into Worstel's guard. Worstel wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rambo stops Worstel from standing up. Worstel is trying to keep Rambo in close.
Rambo passes into half guard. Rambo trying to control from half guard but Worstel is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rambo not landing any meaningful shots this time. Rambo wants to take a breather but Worstel is having none of it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Worstel scores a takedown into full mount! Rambo tries to lock up and control but Worstel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Rambo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Worstel wants to control the pace but Rambo is squirming around nicely. Worstel prevents Rambo from getting the reversal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Worstel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rambo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Worstel wants to control the pace but Rambo is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rambo is desperately trying to improve his position but Worstel has a good base and remains in mount. Worstel controlling his opponent. Rambo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Rambo tries to reverse the position but Worstel maintains control. Rambo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rambo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Worstel controlling his opponent. Rambo is trying desperately to improve position. Rambo tries to lock up and control but Worstel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Worstel looking to control but Rambo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Worstel looking to control and managing it successfully.
Despite being in the dominant position, Dave Worstel just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Worstel misses with a takedown attempt and Rambo counters with a takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Worstel tries for a takedown but Rambo circles away easily and Rambo counters with a shoot takedown. Worstel fights it but they end up in guard. Rambo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Worstel looking to control.

Worstel keeping moving, preventing Rambo from controlling successfully. Rambo wants to get up but he can't break Worstel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Rambo has his takedown stuffed and Worstel counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Rambo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Worstel trying to control the position from guard on top but Rambo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Worstel wants to get up but he can't break Rambo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Rambo controls Worstel momentarily but Worstel frees himself. Rambo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Worstel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Worstel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Worstel looking to sit in guard and control but Rambo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Worstel uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Rambo misses with a takedown and Worstel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Worstel. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Worstel gets to his feet - Rambo follows without any prompting. Rambo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Worstel's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rambo preventing the sweep. Worstel keeping moving, preventing Rambo from controlling successfully. Worstel wants to stand but Rambo is controlling the position. Rambo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rambo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Worstel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Worstel is pulling down on Rambo's head. It's preventing any offense from Rambo, at least for the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Worstel fails with the takedown and Rambo counters with a slapping leg kick. Worstel shoots and misses and Rambo counters with a takedown into side control. John Rambo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Worstel. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rambo is looking to take a break and control but Worstel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Worstel wants to get back to his feet but Rambo drags him back down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Dave Worstel will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Worstel with a poor takedown and Rambo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Worstel! Rambo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Worstel tries to hold on but Rambo postures up. Worstel is trying to escape the mount.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rambo looking to secure an arm triangle but Worstel defends it well. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rambo is trying to take his opponent's back.
Rambo avoids the attempt from Worstel to control. Rambo in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Worstel tries to reverse the position but Rambo maintains control. Rambo is working for a guillotine from mount but Worstel frees his head quite easily.
Rambo throwing strikes here but Worstel is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Worstel prevents any damage by holding on tight. Rambo stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Rambo throws a nice looking combination but Worstel bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rambo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Worstel manages to get to full guard.
