The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueira scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Marie II keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Nogueira gets a takedown into half guard.
Nogueira is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marie II is trying to control but can't.

Nogueira seems to be working for a kimura but Marie II defends the submission attempt.
Marie II is trying to maintain the position but Nogueira is very close to passing his half guard.
Nogueira seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Marie II does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Nogueira wants to take a breather but Marie II is having none of it.
