The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Delazari dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Delazari's head and hops out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Delazari tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Smith.

Delazari looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard.

Smith slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Smith tries to stand but Delazari is controlling from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pietro Delazari will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Delazari fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Delazari misses with a two punch combination.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Delazari circles away quickly and effectively.
Smith motions for Delazari to come forward. Smith throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Delazari.

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Delazari tries to bench press Smith off him but Smith keeps the position.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Delazari is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith is chipping away with strikes.
Delazari is breathing heavily.

Delazari is trying to escape the position but Smith is controlling the position.
Smith scores with a couple of short elbows.
Delazari manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Smith manages to get to full guard.
Delazari loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Delazari stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Delazari.
Delazari misses with a takedown attempt

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jack Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pietro Delazari.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith passes Delazari's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Smith content to control rather than advance.

Smith is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Delazari won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Smith off his unconscious opponent!
