Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dj Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. A Country Boy Can Survive kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Hughes has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Dj Nelson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Nelson throws a big elbow that misses.
Nelson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Nelson is working Hughes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Nelson advances position into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughes looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nelson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Nelson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Nelson tries to score with some ground and pound. Hughes controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nelson postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Hughes badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Nelson around the waist but Nelson pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Nelson is the winner by TKO! Nelson jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dj Nelson!
