Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michal Materla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Arona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Materla's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Do Gory Leb. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michal Materla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Arona! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Materla fails in his attempt to clinch. Arona tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Arona closes the distance and clinches. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Materla escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Arona shoots in for a takedown but Materla shows good takedown defense. Arona rushes Materla and presses him up against the cage. Materla breaks the clinch.
Arona shoots in for a takedown but Materla shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Arona misses with a looping left. Arona gets caught flat footed, as Materla shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Materla decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arona has his takedown stuffed and Materla counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Michal Materla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Arona. Materla perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Michal Materla just wasn't active enough. Horrible takedown by Arona or perhaps it was just good defense by Materla which made him look bad. Arona looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arona gets the takedown into side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Materla wants to control but Arona postures up. Arona blocks the strikes from Materla.
Materla gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Materla is pressing down on Arona's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Materla looking to hit a scissor sweep but Arona is one step ahead there. Materla controlling Arona's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Materla wants to stand but Arona is controlling the position. Materla working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Arona doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Arona manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Arona pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Materla is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Materla pulls Arona in close to prevent any damage. Arona wants to control from the top but Materla keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Materla is on top in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Materla slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michal Materla dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Materla closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Materla lands in his opponent's guard. Arona striking off his back but it's not causing Materla any problems. Arona keeping full guard, as Materla tries to pass. Materla content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Arona wants to control the position but Materla says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Arona is trying to get back to full guard. Materla is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arona is looking for a sweep. Materla is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Arona is breathing heavily. Materla is controlling the pace.
Materla wants to take a breather but Arona is having none of it. Materla stands up out of the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arona tries to grapple but his opponent circles so Materla counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Materla passes easily into side control. Nice work. Materla throwing shots but missing, from side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Materla has control of an arm but Arona manages to advance to Materla's back! Materla manages to reverse the position and now he's in Arona's guard. Nice work there by Materla.
Materla chips away with some ground and pound. Arona can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Materla controls the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Materla pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Arona is keeping the position for now. Materla slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Arona. Materla lands with a punch from half guard. Materla trying to control the pace. Materla is trying to control the action in half guard but Arona is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arona is looking to improve his position.
Materla perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Michal Materla wasn't doing enough on the ground. Materla shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Materla trying to control the position from guard on top but Arona is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Arona not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Materla passes into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Materla sitting and controlling from the half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arona gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Materla to score an easy takedown into full guard. Materla slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Arona keeping moving, preventing Materla from controlling successfully. Materla landing with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Materla stands up from Arona's guard - Materla perhaps looking for a knockout. Materla blocks the body kick.
Materla tries to clinch up but Arona circles away and keeps his distance. Michal Materla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Arona. Arona takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Arona misses with a takedown and Materla counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Materla. Materla sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Arona's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Materla missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Materla performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Materla winds up and cracks Arona with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Arona taking some punishment here, with Materla in his half guard. Materla looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Arona with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Materla perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Materla is trying to work for a kimura but Arona is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Materla stands up and beckons Arona to join him on the feet. Materla gets the takedown into side control. Arona gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Arona is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Materla locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Arona is forced to tap!
