Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Shurk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nelson Hopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shurk kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Achy Breaky Heart. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopper with a poor takedown
and Shurk counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Nelson Hopper has been cut.
Hopper fails to land the takedown.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hopper looks for a takedown but Shurk sprawls well.

and Shurk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Shurk lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Nelson Hopper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hopper gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Hopper takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hopper shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hopper wants to pass the guard but Shurk is defending well.

Shurk tries to roll over but Hopper keeps him under control.
Hopper is thwarting Shurk's attempts to control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hopper seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Shurk is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

In his post fight interview, Nelson Hopper started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
