Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Lipkin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gideon Abieezer! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lipkin leaves Abieezer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Abieezer gets a takedown into half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Abieezer is stalling here. Lipkin is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Abieezer seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lipkin has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Abieezer is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lipkin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Abieezer is looking to control Lipkin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Abieezer avoid being mounted? Abieezer controlling the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abieezer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lipkin is pressing down on Abieezer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Abieezer is holding on for now. Abieezer manages to get to full guard.
Lipkin wants to control from the top but Abieezer keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lipkin looking to sit in guard and control but Abieezer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lipkin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Lipkin prevents Abieezer from getting the reversal. Abieezer sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Abieezer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Abieezer. Lipkin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Abieezer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lipkin has managed to get both his arms back between Abieezer's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lipkin looking to sit in guard and control but Abieezer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lipkin keeping moving, preventing Abieezer from controlling successfully. Abieezer stays in close to Lipkin's body and controls the position. Abieezer trying to control the position from guard on top but Lipkin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abieezer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lipkin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Abieezer has Lipkin in his guard. Lipkin wants to pass the guard but Abieezer is keeping the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Abieezer seems keen to control Lipkin's posture. Lipkin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Abieezer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gideon Abieezer dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Abieezer gets caught flat footed, as Lipkin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Abieezer wants to improve his position but instead Lipkin has moved into half guard.
Abieezer is refusing to be controlled, as Lipkin sits in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abieezer actively working from the bottom here. Abieezer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lipkin pulls his head out easily. Lipkin trying to pass the guard but Abieezer defending well. Abieezer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lipkin wants to control from the top but Abieezer keeps moving. Abieezer looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Abieezer keeping moving, preventing Lipkin from controlling successfully. Abieezer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lipkin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Abieezer is keeping the position for now. Abieezer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lipkin is aware though and is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abieezer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Abieezer trying to control the position.
Abieezer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lipkin is one step ahead there. Lipkin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Abieezer lands a jab-cross combination. A head kick misses from Lipkin. Lipkin fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lipkin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
It looks like Alexander Lipkin has been cut. Abieezer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lipkin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Abieezer is in Lipkin's guard. Abieezer looking to sit in guard and control but Lipkin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lipkin won't allow Abieezer to sweep him here. Lipkin with a flurry of punches that miss. Abieezer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Abieezer can't keep his opponent in guard - Lipkin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Abieezer works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abieezer is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Lipkin rolls with it to try and escape but Abieezer cranks on the arm and Lipkin is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gideon Abieezer! A relieved looking Gideon Abieezer thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
