Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Rosholt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny OReilly! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! OReilly on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Rosholt scores with a takedown into OReilly's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Rosholt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. OReilly trying to strike off his back.
Rosholt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rosholt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rosholt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. OReilly isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rosholt stacks OReilly on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rosholt! OReilly can't do much from the bottom here. Rosholt controls the position. Rosholt working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. OReilly manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rosholt's best efforts. OReilly is trying to maintain the position but Rosholt is very close to passing his half guard. OReilly has hold of Rosholt's hands but Rosholt slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. OReilly is not content to let Rosholt control the position. Rosholt tries to pass the half guard into mount. OReilly knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Rosholt missing with the ground and pound from half guard. OReilly manages to get to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rosholt passes into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rosholt is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. OReilly tries to roll over but Rosholt keeps him under control. Rosholt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for OReilly on the ground. Rosholt is sneakily working for an arm triangle but OReilly sees it coming and defends easily. OReilly wants to control but Rosholt is keeping busy and won't allow it. OReilly makes his way to full guard. A much better position for OReilly. OReilly is looking for a triangle but Rosholt pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. OReilly has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rosholt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. OReilly wants to stand up but Rosholt is controlling him. Rosholt works a leg free and moves into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rosholt tries to pass to full mount but OReilly defends it. OReilly is trying to control but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. OReilly looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rosholt passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for OReilly! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jake Rosholt will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
OReilly throws a head kick but Rosholt moves out of range.
Rosholt tries to bum rush OReilly with a series of wild strikes but OReilly uses good footwork to avoid the assault. OReilly fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rosholt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. OReilly scores with a jab to the jaw. OReilly fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rosholt to the ground. OReilly is now in Rosholt's guard. Rosholt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rosholt tries to get out of the position. OReilly has gone for a leg lock! Rosholt slips out almost immediately though and dives into OReilly's guard. OReilly has his foot on Rosholt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rosholt works his way back into a safe position though. OReilly is adopting a defensive guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rosholt content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rosholt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. OReilly utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. OReilly looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rosholt is one step ahead there. Rosholt looking to pass the guard. Rosholt looking to sit in guard and control but OReilly gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. OReilly trying to control the position from guard on top but Rosholt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. OReilly is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. OReilly is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. OK we're going to have a standup here. Danny OReilly hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. OReilly ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rosholt has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by OReilly. Rosholt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A slapping body kick lands there for OReilly. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rosholt fails to land the takedown. Sloppy strikes from OReilly. Those never looked like landing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. OReilly connects with a solid leg kick. Rosholt looks to land a left hand but OReilly moved out of range nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Danny OReilly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!
Rosholt misses with a takedown attempt - OReilly sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. OReilly moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
OReilly works the jab nicely. OReilly cracks Rosholt with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Rosholt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts OReilly as he jumps to the side. OReilly connects with a crisp jab. OReilly moves away from the strike by Rosholt. Rosholt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Rosholt. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. OReilly moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. OReilly throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rosholt's waist but Rosholt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing OReilly off to one side. OReilly with a jab. Rosholt misses with an uppercut
and OReilly counters with a stiff right hand.
Rosholt is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. OReilly cracks Rosholt with a hook to the temple - Rosholt is on wobbly legs here! OReilly swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Rosholt falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! OReilly wins by TKO!
