Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shogun Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Davison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davison has chosen Nowhere to run as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Shogun Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Davison!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Davison swings widly with a right hand

and Rua counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Davison jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rua walks away with a smile on his face. Davison gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Davison misses the jab.
Rua buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Rua thuds his shin into the meat of Davison's side.
Davison misses with a straight right.
Rua is looking to clinch.
Rua lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Davison throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rua.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rua, right into the meat.
Davison looks to land a left hand but Rua moved out of range nicely.
Davison avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rua fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Davison.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Rua using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Davison has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Rua connects with a knee to the head.

Davison jumps guard but Rua stands there with Davison around his waist. Davison gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Shogun Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Davison.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rua is pressed up against the ropes. Davison has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rua down to the mat. Rua avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Rua moves into the clinch.

Davison takes a knee right on the jaw!
Rua connects with a knee to the head.

Rua landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Davison wants a takedown.
Davison looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Davison pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rua is looking to stand up but Davison won't let him.

Davison manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch but Davison swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rua closes the distance and clinches.
Rua lands a knee to the head.
Davison wants a takedown.
Rua with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Davison fails to pull guard.
Rua with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Davison gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rua regains guard.

Davison has gone for a leg lock! Rua slips out almost immediately though and dives into Davison's guard.
Rua would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Davison pushes a forearm under Rua's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rua is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Davison!
