PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Basileo Gallegos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mick Jones was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Basileo Gallegos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mick Jones!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gallegos throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.
Jones connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Jones throws a body punch but Gallegos moves out of range.
Jones throws a right and a left that Gallegos avoids nicely.
Jones is looking to clinch but Gallegos is avoiding it.
Gallegos walks into a stiff left hand from Jones.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gallegos with a poor takedown
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gallegos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gallegos has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Basileo Gallegos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gallegos tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jones is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Jones throws out a powerful jab.

and Jones counters with a solid body kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gallegos.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gallegos tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gallegos paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.
Jones scores with a crisp jab that stopped Gallegos in his tracks.
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gallegos dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Gallegos's head and hops out.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Gallegos does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Gallegos on that attempt.

Gallegos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gallegos is working away from the top position though.

Gallegos is looking for a kimura here.

Gallegos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

Gallegos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Jones preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gallegos is working away from the top position though.

Gallegos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Gallegos eventually gives up the hold.

Gallegos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Gallegos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Gallegos eventually gives up the hold.

Gallegos is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gallegos to get the leverage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Gallegos has control of the leg.
Gallegos wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position.

Gallegos seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Basileo Gallegos will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gallegos napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gallegos throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Gallegos manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Jones is working for a submission of some sort.
Gallegos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jones is trying to control. Gallegos wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Gallegos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily.
Jones working Gallegos over with strikes.
Gallegos moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gallegos pushes a forearm under Jones's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Jones is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Basileo Gallegos!
Basileo Gallegos bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
