Walker kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Unholy Confessions by Avenged Sevenfold. John Johnson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Paul Walker's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Johnson darts in trying to clinch
and Walker counters with a series of strikes. Johnson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Walker lands a nice shot to the body.
Walker fails with the takedown.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Johnson tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Walker counters with a three punch combo that has Johnson backing up. Johnson nods at Walker to acknowledge the strikes.
John Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walker swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Johnson closes the distance looking to clinch
enabling Walker to counter with a crisp jab.

Johnson takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Johnson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Walker.
Johnson closes the distance but Walker moves to the side
and Walker counters with a straight right hand.
Johnson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Walker shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Walker tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Walker trying to pass the guard but Johnson defending well.
It looks like Walker is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker wants to work for an arm triangle but Johnson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Walker is trying to control the action in half guard but Johnson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Walker trying to mount his opponent but Johnson defends it.
Walker is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Walker is pressing down on Johnson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Johnson is holding on for now.
Walker stalling away here and it's allowed Johnson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Walker wants to stand and escape but instead Johnson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Walker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Johnson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Walker wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johnson manages to pass to side control.
Walker manages to get to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Walker looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Walker counters with a left to the body.
Walker connects with a jab.
Walker swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Johnson tries to clinch up.
Johnson is looking to clinch but Walker is avoiding it.

and Walker connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Walker circles away from the clinch attempt
and Walker counters with a stiff right hand.

and Walker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Walker swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Walker walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Johnson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch.

Johnson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Johnson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Walker's efforts to push away.
Walker throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Johnsons head.
A right handed body shot lands from Walker.

Walker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Paul Walker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Walker shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Walker wants to stand up but Johnson has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Walker trying to mount his opponent but Johnson defends it.

Walker trying to control from Johnson's half guard. Johnson has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Walkeris looking to pass into half guard but Johnson pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Johnson is in guard.

Walker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Walker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.

letting Walker counter with a right hand.
Johnson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Paul Walker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Walker lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Walker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Walker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
