Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Butter Bean! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Cowell! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cowell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Bean lands an overhand right. Bean lands a jab. Bean with a body punch. A glancing blow. Anderson Cowell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cowell misses with a takedown attempt - Bean sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck for Cowell with that takedown attempt. Butter Bean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Cowell. Bean checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Cowell scores with a takedown into Bean's guard. Bean pulls Cowell in close to his closed guard and prevents Cowell from doing any damage or advancing position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bean manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cowell manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bean throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bean stands and steps away. Cowell gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Cowell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Bean gets a clinch. Cowell tries to pull guard but Bean forces him back to his feet, against the cage. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Bean. Bean throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Cowells head. Bean breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bean smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A jab lands there for Bean.
It looks like Anderson Cowell has been cut. Cowell gets a double leg takedown into Bean's guard. Cowell looks gassed! Cowell wants to control from the top but Bean keeps moving. Cowell trying to move into half guard but instead Bean has managed to sweep!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bean wanted to stand there but Cowell had control of the position. Cowell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Bean gets to his feet - Cowell follows without any prompting. Cowell fails with a takedown attempt. Bean connects with a single shot there. Bean avoids the head kick by Cowell.
Cowell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cowell misses with a takedown attempt - Bean sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cowell misses the shot to the body. Bean tries to close the distance and clinch but Cowell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cowell. Cowell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bean but Bean pushes him off and we're back to square one. Bean has closed the distance and engaged Cowell in a clinch.
Cowell is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bean is defending well. Bean working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Bean manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Bean lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bean makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bean scores with a shot to the side of Cowell's head. Cowell is trying to drag Bean to the mat but Bean just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Bean's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bean cracks Cowell with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Bean has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Cowell to stand back up!
Cowell is rocked! Bean displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cowell throws out the jab. Cowell is still on wobbly legs! Can Bean finish him? Bean jabs at Cowell's body. Cowell seems to have recovered his senses. Bean drops Cowell with a big left hand! Cowell is injured, injured bad! Bean jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Butter Bean! During a confident post fight interview, Butter Bean thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
