PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankie McNasty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patterson comes to the cage accompanied by House of the rising sun. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Frankie McNasty!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McNasty shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Patterson's guard.

Patterson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McNasty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McNasty preventing the sweep.

McNasty stands and steps away. Patterson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
McNasty takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Frankie McNasty has been cut.
McNasty throws a shot from downtown. Patterson moves away and avoids it.

Patterson drives through with a takedown into guard.
McNasty is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Patterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Patterson is breathing heavily.
McNasty pulls Patterson in to control the position.

McNasty pushes Patterson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

McNasty gets caught flat footed, as Patterson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

McNasty controlling the position.

McNasty pushes Patterson off and scrambles back to his feet.
McNasty lands with an uppercut that bounces Patterson off the cage and back into rage.
Patterson misses with a takedown

and McNasty counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
McNasty trying to control the action but Patterson is working from the bottom.

Patterson manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Patterson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Patterson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McNasty does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Patterson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McNasty is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

McNasty shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

McNasty decides to stand up.
McNasty shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Patterson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McNasty's guard.
McNasty wants to sweep but no luck.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McNasty is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McNasty won't allow Patterson to get back to his feet.
McNasty is working Patterson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Patterson is desperately trying to improve his position but McNasty has a good base and remains in mount.

and McNasty counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McNasty.
McNasty has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Patterson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

McNasty tries to free his leg and advance position but Patterson is retaining full guard.

Patterson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McNasty just stands there and leans against the cage.

McNasty has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Patterson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

McNasty is looking for the choke from the back position but Patterson is controlling his hands well.

Patterson is trying to get back to his feet but McNasty has full control of the position and if anything, Patterson has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Patterson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

McNasty tries to bum rush Patterson with a series of wild strikes but Patterson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patterson wants to try and get back to his feet.
McNasty prevents Patterson from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frankie McNasty showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

McNasty drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McNasty jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
McNasty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McNasty wants to control from the top but Patterson keeps moving.

McNasty won't allow Patterson to get back to his feet.

McNasty is pulling down on Patterson's head. It's preventing any offense from Patterson, at least for the moment.
McNasty lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Patterson!

Frankie McNasty comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got McNasty winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
