Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adil Ek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vlad Vidic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vidic has chosen Black Steel - Tricky as his entrance music. Vlad Vidic told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adil Ek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vlad Vidic! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ek fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Vidic to the ground. Ek is now in Vidic's guard. Ek wanted to stand there but Vidic had control of the position. Ek looking to pass the guard. Vidic manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ek manages to get himself to full guard.
Vidic postures up in Ek's guard and throws a big left but Ek blocks it. Vidic postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ek is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vidic, into his guard. Ek not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Vidic keeping moving, preventing Ek from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ek stopping the sweep attempt from Vidic. Vidic being controlled here, momentarily.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Adil Ek just wasn't active enough. Vidic misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ek connects with a right hand. Vidic shakes it off. Ek scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vidic wants to improve his position but Ek is controlling well.
Ek seems to be working for a kimura but Vidic defends the submission attempt. Vidic gets back to full guard.

Ek is stalling in the full guard. Ek wants to get up but he can't break Vidic's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vlad Vidic was stalling too much, according to the referee. Ek cracks a nice hook into Vidic's ribs. Vidic gets caught flat footed, as Ek shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Vidic not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Vidic keeping moving, preventing Ek from controlling successfully. Vidic keeping full guard, as Ek tries to pass. Vidic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Vidic pushes Ek off and gets back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ek manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vidic on his heels. He'll look to pass Vidic's guard now, I'm sure. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ek is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Vidic preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ek has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Vidic not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vidic might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ek kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ek preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Adil Ek dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ek throws a lazy head kick and Vidic counters with a nice uppercut. Vidic misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Vidic shoots in looking for a takedown but Ek manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vidic's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Adil Ek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ek shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ek was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Vidic is squirming around, avoiding Ek's attempts to control the action. Ek tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Vidic is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Adil Ek has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Vidic enables Ek to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vidic manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vidic is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ek won't allow Vidic to sweep him here. Vidic looking to control.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Vlad Vidic. Ek darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vidic tries to get to full guard but Ek has control of the leg. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ek looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Ek prevents Vidic from standing back up.
Adil Ek overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vidic wants to control but Ek is keeping busy and won't allow it. Vidic is controlling Ek's position as best he can from this difficult position. Vidic is breathing heavily. Ek stalling.
We're going to have a standup here because Adil Ek wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Ek gets a takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ek is trying to control the action in half guard but Vidic is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Ek decides to stand and escape the position. Ek throws a lazy head kick and Vidic counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ek's guard now. Vidic postures up in Ek's guard and throws a big left but Ek blocks it. Vidic drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ek dives on top into guard. Ek sitting in guard, not really doing much. Vidic controls Ek momentarily but Ek frees himself.

Adil Ek dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Ek moves in looking to clinch but Vidic pushes him off. Vidic shoots in and drives through. Ek sprawls well. Ek throws a head kick that misses. Ek throws a left and a right that both miss
and Vidic counters with a left and a right that stings Ek. Vidic shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ek as he avoids it easily. Excellent takedown into side control there by Vidic. Vidic throws a strike aimed at the side of Ek's head but Ek avoids it well. Ek prevents Vidic from moving into mount. Vidic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ek wants to get back to his feet but Vidic drags him back down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ek dodges the ground and pound from Vidic. Ek tries to strike but it doesn't land. Vidic has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ek! Ek wants to control but Vidic is having none of it. Vidic with a couple of short strikes. Ek working to try and regain half guard.
Ek tries to lock up and control but Vidic gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Vidic unloading with bombs! Ek sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Vidic is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Vidic is working for a kimura but Ek is defending it quite comfortably.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ek keeps control of the position for the meantime. Vidic seems to be looking for submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ek is looking to control Vidic's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ek avoid being mounted? Ek tries to get to full guard but Vidic has control of the leg. Vidic wants to take a breather but Ek is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vidic is working for a submission of some sort.
Vidic is keen to just control but Ek is a slippery customer. Ek is looking to improve his position.
Ek is working hard here to advance position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Ek holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Vidic fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vidic fails to land the takedown. Adil Ek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vlad Vidic. Vidic changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ek tries to avoid it but Vidic manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ek to the ground. Ek escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ek shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ek showed some decent athleticism there. Ek controlling the action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vidic keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Vlad Vidic. Well Ek has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
