Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Calderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Wiher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Calderon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roman Wiher! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wiher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Calderon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wiher somewhat. Calderon has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wiher prevents Calderon from breaking the clinch. Calderon has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Wiher keeps control of Calderon as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Wiher escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wiher looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Calderon is fending him off so far but Wiher persists. Nope, Calderon circles away and we're back to standing. Wiher clinches up with Calderon and pushes him back against the cage. Wiher tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Calderon smiles and moves away.
Jose Calderon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Wiher. Calderon closes the distance and lands a one-two. Calderon is looking to clinch but Wiher is avoiding it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wiher avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Calderon stuffs the takedown attempt from Wiher. Wiher gets slowly back to his feet. Calderon wants to clinch. Wiher throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Calderon's waist but Calderon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wiher off to one side. Wiher looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Calderon scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
A nice combination there by Calderon.
Calderon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wiher. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Calderon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Calderon wants it to stay on the feet. Wiher looks gassed! Calderon wants to clinch up but Wiher keeps it at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Calderon goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Calderon has his takedown stuffed and Wiher decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Calderon's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Wiher wants to get up but he can't break Calderon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Calderon wants to stand up but Wiher is controlling him. Wiher tries to free his leg and advance position but Calderon is retaining full guard. Wiher is looking to work some ground and pound but Calderon has wrist control. Wiher stands and steps away. Calderon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calderon tries to clinch there but Wiher circles away.
Wiher shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wiher showed some decent athleticism there. Wiher wants to pass the guard but Calderon is defending well. Calderon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wiher on the ground. Wiher missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wiher controlling the pace. It looks like Wiher might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Roman Wiher was stalling too much, according to the referee. Wiher fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Calderon avoids it really well and circles away. A punch combination from Calderon misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Calderon shoots in for a takedown but Wiher shows good takedown defense. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Roman Wiher will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Wiher gets the takedown into side control. Wiher throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Wiher stands up and we're back to a striking position. No joy there for Calderon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Calderon gets caught flat footed, as Wiher shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wiher sitting in guard here, content to control. Wiher is pushing down on Calderon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Calderon is fighting to maintain full guard but Wiher has managed to sneak the leg through. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wiher decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Calderon displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Wiher misses with a takedown attempt - Calderon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Calderon tries to bum rush Wiher with a series of wild strikes but Wiher uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Calderon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wiher swats him away and circles back towards the center. Calderon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Wiher fails with a takedown attempt. Calderon slaps away a takedown attempt from Wiher, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jose Calderon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Wiher. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wiher.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wiher looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Calderon is fending him off so far but Wiher persists. Nope, Calderon circles away and we're back to standing. A nice combination there by Calderon.

This has been an exciting period of action! Calderon scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Calderon throws a series of strikes that have Wiher backpedaling.
Wiher is rocked! Calderon lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Wiher out cold! Wiher is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jose Calderon! Jose Calderon decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
