PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wade Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Belcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wade Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Belcher!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson misses with a body shot.
Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Belcher. Belcher gets slowly back to his feet.
Belcher defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jackson.

Belcher drives through with a takedown into Jackson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Jackson throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belcher is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing Belcher from standing up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Belcher was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Belcher stalks Jackson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jackson's face. Jackson staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Wade Jackson has been cut.
Jackson really is a fat lump.

Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Belcher.

Belcher is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jackson's half guard.

Belcher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Belcher tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.

Belcher moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Belcher shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Belcher is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jackson can't keep his opponent in guard - Belcher advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Belcher.
Jackson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Belcher.

Belcher looks to land a strike but Jackson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Wade Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Belcher shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Belcher is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jackson defends it well.

Belcher changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jackson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Belcher has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face as Belcher controls the position.
Jackson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

and Belcher counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Belcher.

Belcher decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jackson, up you get!

Jackson gets caught napping as Belcher dives in and scores a takedown. Jackson manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson is working an open guard so Belcher takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Belcher lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Belcher fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Belcher persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jackson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Belcher.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Belcher sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Belcher jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jackson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Jackson is being controlled here.
Jackson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Belcher.
Belcher postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ryan Belcher comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Belcher has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
