14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mick Malone! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malone pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A jab lands there for Henry. Malone tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Henry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Leon Henry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Henry jabs at Malone's body. Henry scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Henry misses with a straight left. Malone uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Henry. Malone takes a swing at Henry's ribcage but misses. Danga de danga de dang - Henry scores with a four punch combination! Malone ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! That was a close round but I would say that Leon Henry will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Leon Henry's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Henry has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Malone is working away from the top position though.

Malone seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Henry on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Malone missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Malone throws a looping overhand right but Henry ducks down to avoid it. Malone shoots in but no luck this time.
