Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alexander Ellis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shacka Fardul! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fardul closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ellis's guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Ellis trying to control the position here. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ellis is on top in guard.
Ellis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fardul works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Fardul keeping moving, preventing Ellis from controlling successfully. Ellis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ellis passes Fardul's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellis is working for a submission of some sort.
Fardul is defending against the submission attempts here by Ellis.
Fardul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ellis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ellis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fardul doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ellis. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fardul is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ellis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Ellis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fardul's head. Ellis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fardul defends it well. Ellis seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Fardul is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Alexander Ellis! In his post fight interview, Alexander Ellis started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
