Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Doc Holiday! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Conner! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holiday throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
It looks like Jon Conner has been cut. Holiday pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No joy there for Holiday, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Conner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Conner scores with a jab. Holiday acknowledges it with a nod of the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Holiday is looking to clinch but Conner is avoiding it.
Holiday lands a jab to Conner's midsection. Holiday clinches up against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Conner fails to land. Holiday jumps guard and drags Conner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Holiday fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Conner manages to avoid it. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Holiday tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Conner tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Holiday manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Conner tries a head kick but it misses.
Holiday dives in and grabs Conner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Conner pushes down on Holiday's head and hops out. Holiday is breathing heavily. Holiday takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Holiday avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Holiday seems a little lost for a moment, as Conner dominates the positioning. Conner passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Holiday! Conner unloading with bombs! Holiday is in all sorts of trouble here.
Conner is in the full mount, landing strikes. Conner is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Holiday can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Conner pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Conner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Conner lands a nice shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Conner cracks Holiday with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Conner is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Holiday can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Conner lands with some strikes. Holiday takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Holiday is looking to get to half guard. Conner goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Holiday is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Holiday wanted to stand there but Conner had control of the position. Conner is adopting a defensive guard. Conner will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Conner holds on and takes a little breather. Holiday thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The crowd cheers as Conner lands an impressive looking overhand right. Holiday doesn't seem phased though. Holiday takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. This has been an exciting period of action! Holiday cracks the inside of Conner's front leg. Conner dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Holiday throws the kick towards the body but Conner avoids it. A solid leg kick lands there for Holiday.
Conner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Holiday swats him away and circles back towards the center. Doc Holiday is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Conner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Holiday looks to throw the jab but Conner is out of range. Conner looks for the body kick but Holiday saw that one coming.

Conner connects with a crisp jab. Jon Conner is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Holiday shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Conner as he jumps to the side. Doc Holiday has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Doc Holiday. That's going to take a lot out of him. Holiday lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Conner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Conner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
