Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alistair Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bull Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alistair Overeem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bull Dog!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog tries a head kick but it misses.
Overeem tries for a takedown but Dog circles away easily

and Dog counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dog.
Dog must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Overeem not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dog is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Overeem tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Dog really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Overeem. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Overeem escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dog gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Overeem pulls Dog in to control the position.
Dog wants to control from the top but Overeem keeps moving.
Overeem is looking to stand up but Dog isn't so interested in that idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bull Dog was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Dog clinches up with Overeem and pushes him back against the ropes.
Dog lands a damaging elbow.


It looks like Alistair Overeem has been cut.
Dog is trying to break the clinch but Overeem has him pressed against the ropes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bull Dog dominated that round.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Dog drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Overeem gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Overeem is trying to control but can't.
Dog thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Overeem wants to control but Dog is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dog looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Dog tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Dog not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Dog throws a strike but Overeem avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Overeem is trying to control the position but Dog postures up.
Dog chips away with some ground and pound.

Overeem has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dog can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Overeem looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Overeem manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dog manages to get himself to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dog can do anything to dispel that myth.

Overeem trying to control but Dog is working from the bottom.
Dog has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Overeem has passed into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Dog's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Overeem looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Dog throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Overeem trying to control the position but Dog is working away.
Overeem has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Dog!
Overeem working the ground and pound effectively.
Dog really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Overeem sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Dog keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Dog tries to hold on but Overeem pushes him away.
Overeem can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dog is looking to escape.

Overeem has control of Dog's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dog regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dog tries to improve his position but instead Overeem has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alistair Overeem will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Dog thuds a left hand into Overeem's body.
Dog keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Overeem throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dog's waist but Dog gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Overeem off to one side.

Overeem is concentrating on defense, preventing Dog from advancing position.

Dog decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Dog closes the distance and clinches.
Overeem is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Dog to keep the fight standing.

Overeem has had enough of the clinch but Dog keeps him there for the moment.

Dog has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Overeem clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Dog has the hooks in. Overeem is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Overeem turns into Dog and is now in his guard.

Dog preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Overeem trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Dog is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Overeem is stalling in the full guard.

Horrible takedown by Dog or perhaps it was just good defense by Overeem which made him look bad.
Alistair Overeem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Overeem tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dog sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Overeem somewhat.

Bull Dog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dog has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Bull Dog started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
