PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Spliff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andy Johnson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Spliff, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Spliff walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Johnson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Spliff tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Spliff's guard.
Johnson wants to get up but he can't break Spliff's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spliff swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Spliff's guard.
Spliff is in trouble now - Johnson has advanced to mount!

Johnson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Spliff's face.
Johnson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

A big strike lands for Johnson! That's really hurt Spliff and he's turned his back - Johnson keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Johnson jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
