The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie with a lazy takedown attempt

and Damas counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Damas pulls his head out easily.
Gracie is not content to let Damas control the position.
Gracie wants to get back to full guard.
Damas trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Gracie could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Damas performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Vinicius Damas hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Damas circles away easily

and Damas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gracie won't be happy with that.
Damas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Damas trying to control the position but Gracie is working away.
Gracie tries to buck Damas off but Damas is having none of it.

Damas is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Damas throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Gracie is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Damas is trying to control the action in half guard but Gracie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie works his way to full guard. Good work.
Damas stands up over Gracie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Damas wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Damas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vinicius Damas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Gracie misses with a takedown

and Damas counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Damas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Damas is sitting in close to Gracie's body. Gracie has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Damas is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Damas is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Gracie.
