Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vadim Kalashnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oleksandr Mystrov!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalashnikov throws an off balance right hand

and Mystrov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kalashnikov's guard.
Mystrov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Mystrov content to stall in guard here.
Mystrov passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Mystrov working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Mystrov fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Kalashnikov is not content to let Mystrov control the position.

Mystrov working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Kalashnikov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mystrov on the ground.
Mystrov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kalashnikov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Kalashnikov is trying to control Mystrov's posture but Mystrov avoids it.
Mystrov works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mystrov in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Kalashnikov is looking for a sweep.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kalashnikov is trying to control Mystrov's posture but Mystrov avoids it.
Kalashnikov defending against the ground and pound.
Mystrov controls the position.
Kalashnikov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Mystrov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

You can see the frustration on Kalashnikov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mystrov tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Mystrov throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Mystrov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kalashnikov keeps working.
Kalashnikov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kalashnikov tries to get out of the position.

Mystrov taking a breather here.
Kalashnikov regains half guard there - taking advantage of Mystrov's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Kalashnikov blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mystrov.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mystrov is looking to take a break and control but Kalashnikov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A lazy body kick from Kalashnikov

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Mystrov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kalashnikov's guard.
Mystrov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kalashnikov is keeping the position for now.
Kalashnikov trying to keep a closed guard but Mystrov is proving a slippery customer.
Mystrov trying to move into half guard but instead Kalashnikov has managed to sweep!

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vadim Kalashnikov just wasn't active enough.
A lazy left from Kalashnikov finds it's target.


It looks like Oleksandr Mystrov has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kalashnikov scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mystrov doesn't seem bothered though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kalashnikov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mystrov walks forward, straight into a front kick from Kalashnikov.
Kalashnikov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mystrov was well out of range. Poor timing from Kalashnikov.
Kalashnikov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mystrov moves out of range as Kalashnikov strikes.
Mystrov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mystrov is breathing heavily.
Kalashnikov connects with a looping right hand.
Kalashnikov lands with an uppercut that bounces Mystrov off the ropes and back into range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mystrov get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Mystrov stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the ropes but Kalashnikov runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Vadim Kalashnikov!
Our winner, Vadim Kalashnikov, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
