Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Snow Crash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Otto Santos! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crash lands a nice leg kick that just misses Santos's sensitive parts. Santos fails in his attempt to clinch. Crash lands with a straight right. Santos didn't see that one coming.
It looks like Otto Santos has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The fighters circling - Crash throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Crash throws a low kick but Santos avoids it. Santos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Crash swivels and escapes. Crash fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Crash shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santos but Santos pushes him off and we're back to square one. Santos shoots in but Crash avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Crash. Crash misses with a low kick. Santos stuffs the takedown attempt from Crash. Crash gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Snow Crash. That's going to take a lot out of him. Crash throws a half hearted mid kick. Santos throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Crash was covering up waiting for the punch and Santos finishes the takedown easily into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Santos pushes down on Crash's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crash is looking for a sweep. Santos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Santos lands strikes from half guard. Santos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Crash's head. Crash is doing well to control the position and prevent Santos from advancing to side control. Santos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Santos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Santos throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Crash on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Santos winds up and cracks Crash with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Ground and pound from Santos. Santos missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Crash is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Crash blocking the ground and pound attempt from Santos.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crash is staying active underneath Santos, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Crash wants to get back to full guard. Crash controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Santos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Crash's head. Crash wants to get back to full guard. Santos looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Crash with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Santos prevents Crash from improving his position. Santos working over Crash with some ground and pound. Crash looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Crash is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Crash is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Santos scores with a couple of nice shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Crash utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Santos wants to control but Crash is keeping him busy. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Santos has a takedown stuffed. Crash shoots in and drives through. Santos sprawls well. Crash lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Santos ducks under a wild hook from Crash. Snow Crash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Crash but Crash pushes him off and we're back to square one. Crash shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Santos pinned against the cage. Santos gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Crash scores with a jab to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos scores with a takedown into Crash's guard. Santos is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Crash preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Crash holds on and takes a little breather. Otto Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Otto Santos's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Crash misses with a hook
and Santos counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Crash avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Santos. Santos misses with a head shot. Crash uses the momentum to regain guard. Santos trying to control but Crash is working from the bottom. Crash working for a triangle but Santos defends it easily.
Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Crash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Crash controls Santos momentarily but Santos frees himself. Crash thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos stands and throws Crash's legs to the side, diving into side control. Santos fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Santos creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Crash on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Crash is looking to regain half guard here but Santos keeps moving and retains side control. Santos throwing shots but missing, from side control. Santos working the ground and pound from side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Santos creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Santos is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Crash is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Santos wants to control but Crash is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Santos cracks Crash with a big right hand but Crash just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Crash is rocked! Santos is trying to get an arm triangle but Crash is defending well. Oh Crash is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Santos cracks Crash with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Santos immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Crash is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Santos!
