Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darrell Spraggins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Maiquel Jose! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spraggins will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Good leg kick by Spraggins there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jose throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Spraggins scores with a body shot.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Spraggins. Jose swinging wildly here.
Spraggins takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Spraggins tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jose swats him away and circles back towards the center. Darrell Spraggins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jose tries to bum rush Spraggins with a series of wild strikes but Spraggins uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jose throws a jab when Spraggins was well out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Spraggins. Spraggins will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Spraggins moves in looking to clinch but Jose pushes him off. Spraggins tries to close the distance and clinch but Jose swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Spraggins with a poor takedown and Jose counters with a series of strikes. Spraggins will be more careful next time no doubt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darrell Spraggins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spraggins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jose as he jumps to the side. Jose lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Spraggins circles away quickly and effectively. Jose throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jose!
It looks like Darrell Spraggins has been cut. Jose lands a two punch combo.
This has been an exciting period of action! Jose avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spraggins tries for a takedown but Jose circles away easily and Jose connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jose lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Spraggins gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jose counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Jose throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Spraggins. Spraggins slips a jab and a cross from Jose.
No joy there for Jose, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Spraggins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jose waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Spraggins.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spraggins closes the distance looking to clinch and Jose counters with a straight right hand. Jose looks to land a combination but Spraggins avoids it well. Spraggins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Spraggins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jose does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spraggins prevents Jose from standing back up.
Spraggins stands up out of the half guard. Jose misses with a double jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jose circles away from the clinch attempt.
A combination from Jose does no damage. Spraggins gets the takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spraggins in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Jose wants to get back to his feet but Spraggins drags him back down. Spraggins sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jose is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Spraggins cracks Jose with a big right hand but Jose just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spraggins stands up. A combination from Jose does no damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Maiquel Jose will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Darrell Spraggins's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Spraggins shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jose as he avoids it easily. Jose avoids a kick to the body.
Jose tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Spraggins was well out of range. Poor timing from Jose. Maiquel Jose seems to be getting the better of the standup. Jose will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Spraggins fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jose avoids it really well and circles away. Spraggins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Spraggins throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jose holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Spraggins tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Spraggins can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jose is looking to escape. Jose is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Spraggins is stalling here but it's allowed Jose to get half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jose tries to kick Spraggins off but Spraggins keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spraggins is taking a breather. Jose says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Spraggins is keen to just control but Jose is a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Darrell Spraggins just wasn't active enough. No joy there for Spraggins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The fight moves into the clinch position. The referee is keeping an eye on Spraggins - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Jose breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Spraggins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jose but Jose pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jose defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Spraggins. Jose throws a nice looking combination but Spraggins bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jose swats away the attempt to clinch by Spraggins. Spraggins misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jose scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Spraggins would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jose wants to stand but Spraggins is controlling the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Spraggins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spraggins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jose swivels and escapes. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Spraggins looks to land a left hand but Jose moved out of range nicely. Spraggins tries to clinch but Jose is having none of it. A left lands for Jose. Jose misses with a series of wild punches.
Spraggins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jose tries to avoid it but Spraggins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jose to the ground. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Darrell Spraggins. I think Spraggins has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
