Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laurent lands with a right hand.
Laurent connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Laurent bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Laurent throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Laurent paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Laurent ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Skitles moves away.
Laurent lands with a kick to the temple. Skitles shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Skitles is rocked!
Laurent misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Skitles is still on wobbly legs! Can Laurent finish him?
Laurent scores with a jab.
Jive Laurent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Skitles.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looks like Skitles might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Skitles cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Laurent is trying to reverse the position but instead Skitles has taken his back - oops!
Skitles has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Laurent has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Skitles has Laurent flattened out and is raining down punches.

Skitles throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Laurent!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Skitles has the hooks in. Laurent is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Skitles dominated that round.
That's time! Laurent's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Skitles takes a kick to the side of the head.
Laurent throws a head kick that Skitles semi-blocks.
Skitles moves out of range as Laurent strikes.
Laurent's jab looks to have found its range, popping Skitles under the eye.
Laurent thuds his right hand into Skitles's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
No joy there for Laurent, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Laurent lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Skitles avoids the head kick by Laurent.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Laurent enables Skitles to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Laurent manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Skitles is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Skitles's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Skitles dives in and grabs Laurent's left leg, looking for a takedown. Laurent pushes down on Skitles's head and hops out.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Skitles throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Laurent blocks it with crossed arms.

Laurent is looking to break free of the clinch but Skitles has double underhooks.

Laurent is trying to force a seperation but Skitles has the dominant position.

Skitles closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Skitles lands in his opponent's guard.
Skitles stays in close to Laurent's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Laurent tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Skitles slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Skitles has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Some bone on bone action there as Laurent checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Skitles shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Laurent but Laurent pushes him off and we're back to square one.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Skitles can do anything to dispel that myth.
