Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by James there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
James swats away the attempt to clinch by Machida.
Machida misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James keeps the fight on the outside.
Machida moves into the clinch successfully.
James tries to land knees in the clinch but Machida avoids the damage to the body.
Machida breaks the clinch.
James closes the distance and clinches.
Machida on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Machida changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
James explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
James misses with a low kick.
James goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
James tries to bum rush Machida with a series of wild strikes but Machida uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
James connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Machida fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyoto Machida. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Machida closes the distance but James moves to the side
and James counters with a solid body kick.
Machida is breathing heavily.
James moves into range and clinches up with Machida.
James breaks the clinch.
A combination from James does no damage.
TJ James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and James counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Machida uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by James.

Machida is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. James can't fight it off and eventually Machida manages to take the fight to the floor. James looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

James wants to break free but Machida has control.

James shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

James fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Machida on the side of the head.
Machida darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
James wants to get back to his feet.

Machida knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.
James tries to kick Machida off but Machida keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Machida is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Machida decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

James thows a body shot but no joy.
James looks to land a body kick but Machida moved away.
Machida tries to clinch there but James circles away.
James swats away the attempt to clinch by Machida.
James gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
James wriggles free and stands up.
Machida tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and James counters by clinching up.
Machida lands a body shot.
James avoids the elbow strike from Machida, against the cage.
Machida lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like TJ James has been cut.
Machida fails to pull guard.
Machida's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
James goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Machida scores with an uppercut up the middle.

James lands a left hand.
A nice glancing elbow lands by James.
Machida breaks from the clinch.
James misses with a few strikes there.
The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Machida moves in looking to clinch but James pushes him off.
Machida has taken the fight to the clinch.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but Machida won't allow it.
Machida is trying to stall.
James has a couple of punches blocked by Machida.
James misses with a punch on the inside.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Machida escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and James counters with a nice body kick.
Machida looks for a takedown but James sprawls well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Machida counters with a single leg into guard. James didn't expect that.
James pushes Machida off and scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
