0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zenon Waligora! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gustafsson tries to keep at a distance but Waligora has taken the fight into the clinch. Waligora escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Waligora darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Waligora lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Waligora. Waligora tries to clinch but Gustafsson is having none of it. Gustafsson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Waligora slaps away a takedown attempt from Gustafsson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Gustafsson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Waligora. Gustafsson shoots in but no luck this time. Waligora gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Gustafsson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Gustafsson wants to control from the top but Waligora keeps moving. Gustafsson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Waligora really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gustafsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Waligora can't do much from the bottom here. Waligora avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gustafsson. Waligora wants to control but Gustafsson postures up. Gustafsson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Waligora knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Waligora tries to control but Gustafsson manages to take his back. Waligora tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Gustafsson trying to control but Waligora is having none of it. Gustafsson is really struggling to control Waligora but he's trying to hold on to the position. Gustafsson content just to control the position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gustafsson is in the full mount, landing strikes. Gustafsson controlling the position easily from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gustafsson tries to control but Waligora wriggling away. Gustafsson unloading with bombs! Waligora tries to improve his position but Gustafsson has taken his back! Gustafsson has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Waligora tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Gustafsson pushes Waligora away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
