Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between AJ Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Iron Man, Black Sabbath. Charles has chosen Sweet Child O' Mine as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, AJ Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Charles! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Charles moves into the clinch successfully.
Charles comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Nelson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Charles sneaks out the side door and pushes Nelson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Charles wants to clinch. Charles moves into the clinch successfully.
Charles escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Charles as he jumps to the side. Nelson fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Charles looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Nelson dives in and grabs Charles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Charles pushes down on Nelson's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for AJ Nelson. and Nelson counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Charles lands an elbow that stopped Nelson in his tracks for a moment. Charles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nelson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Charles tries to avoid it but Nelson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Charles to the ground. Charles escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson shoots in for a double leg but Charles sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Charles throws a head kick but Nelson moves out of range.
Nelson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ray Charles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Charles will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Charles instigates a clinch. Charles escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nelson fails to land the takedown. Charles doesn't manage to clinch there - Nelson circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Charles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Charles tries to clinch there but Nelson circles away.

Nelson shoots for a double leg takedown but Charles sprawls well. He's pushed Nelson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ray Charles is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nelson swats away the attempt to clinch by Charles. Charles tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nelson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nelson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Charles wants to clinch and Nelson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nelson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Charles doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nelson. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Charles is defending against the submission attempts here by Nelson.

A close round but Ray Charles will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Charles tries to land a front kick but Nelson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Charles throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Nelson blocks a head kick by Charles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Charles tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Nelson counters with a one-two to the body.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nelson is defended easily by Charles. Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch but Charles swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Charles fails to land with a series of punches.

and Charles takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Nelson shoots for a double leg takedown but Charles sprawls well. He's pushed Nelson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Charles throws out a loose jab but Nelson uses good head movement to avoid it. Charles wants to clinch. Charles has managed to clinch.

Charles is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Nelson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Nelson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. A nice combination there by Charles.
Charles misses with a right hand so Nelson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Charles is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nelson is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Charles can't keep his opponent in guard - Nelson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Nelson wants to work for an arm triangle but Charles is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Nelson is just content to waste time from the top position. Charles takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson trying to control but Charles is working from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Charles wants to get back to his feet but Nelson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that AJ Nelson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Nelson trying to control the position but Charles is working away. Nelson wants to take a breather but Charles manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Nelson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Nelson wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving. Nelson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Charles looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Charles looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Charles! Charles throws a strike aimed at the side of Nelson's head but Nelson avoids it well. Charles tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. AJ Nelson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Charles throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Nelson works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Charles thows a huge punch but Nelson dodges it nicely.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Ray Charles! In his post fight interview, Ray Charles started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
