Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Bellator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Malmsteen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bellator comes to the cage accompanied by A Lesson Never Learned. Malmsteen has chosen Yngwie Malmsteen - Rise up as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Malmsteen! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malmsteen throws a quick inside leg kick. Bellator on the wrong end of a nice hook.
It looks like Frank Bellator has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bellator throws an overhand right that lands on Malmsteen's shoulder, as Malmsteen tries to avoid the shot. Malmsteen throws a head kick that misses. A telegraphed right hand from Malmsteen misses the target. Malmsteen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Malmsteen pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Bellator uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Malmsteen. Bellator swings and misses with a hook to the body.

A jab from Bellator misses. A big left from Malmsteen misses. Malmsteen throws a right and a left that both miss. Malmsteen takes a swing at Bellator's ribcage but misses. Bellator staying out of range there. Bellator misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Malmsteen.
Bellator tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Malmsteen was well out of range. Poor timing from Bellator. Malmsteen staying out of range there. Bellator keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

A head kick from Malmsteen lands but Bellator takes it in his stride. Malmsteen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Bellator just misses with a punch to the body.
Bellator is looking to wear down Malmsteen with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Malmsteen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Malmsteen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Malmsteen throws a lazy right hand but Bellator sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Bellator fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Malmsteen on the side of the head. James Malmsteen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Bellator throws a right and a left that both miss. Bellator swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Malmsteen throws a chopping leg kick but Bellator manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Malmsteen takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Malmsteen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bellator manages to avoid it. Malmsteen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Bellator closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Bellator is trying to control the action in half guard but Malmsteen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Malmsteen is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bellator seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bellator connects with a nice short shot to Malmsteen's temple. Ground and pound from Bellator. Bellator is working for a kimura but Malmsteen is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bellator is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Malmsteen is just riding it out for now. Bellator eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Malmsteen tries to get to full guard but Bellator has control of the leg. Bellator is working for a kimura but Malmsteen is defending it quite comfortably.
Bellator maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Malmsteen could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bellator has cracked it and Malmsteen is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bellator!
