PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Crackcorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crackcorn comes into the arena with Kung Fu Fighting blaring out of the sound system. Sam Peterson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Crackcorn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson fails with a takedown attempt.

Crackcorn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Peterson did well to prevent Crackcorn getting side control.

Crackcorn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Peterson is defending against the submission attempts here by Crackcorn.
Crackcorn throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson gets back to full guard.
Crackcorn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Crackcorn drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Peterson dives on top into guard.

Crackcorn throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Peterson escapes and throws Crackcorn's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Crackcorn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Peterson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Peterson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Crackcorn will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Crackcorn can't do much from the bottom here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Peterson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Crackcorn is trying to maintain the position but Peterson is very close to passing his half guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Sam Peterson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Crackcorn gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Peterson counters with a single leg into guard. Crackcorn didn't expect that.

Crackcorn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Peterson's guard.

Crackcorn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

What can Crackcorn do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Crackcorn just trying to survive but Peterson is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Peterson just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Peterson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Crackcorn's body.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Peterson working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Crackcorn is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Peterson has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Crackcorn taps out!
