PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Hodgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrone Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. DMX feat Eminem, Obie Trice - Go To Sleep kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Hodgins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyrone Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodgins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Hodgins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jackson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jackson.


It looks like Adam Hodgins has been cut.
Jackson wants to clinch

and Hodgins counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hodgins.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hodgins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hodgins tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hodgins has gone for a leg lock! Jackson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hodgins's guard.
Hodgins has a closed guard, preventing Jackson from standing up.

Jackson stays in close to Hodgins's body and controls the position.

Hodgins is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well.

Hodgins had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jackson defends it easily.

Hodgins looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hodgins looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jackson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hodgins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Hodgins's legs - danger averted.

Hodgins is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hodgins can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.
Hodgins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hodgins throwing strikes here but Jackson is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Hodgins jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jackson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hodgins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hodgins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hodgins tries for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jackson wants to clinch.
Danga de danga de dang - Jackson scores with a four punch combination!
Hodgins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jackson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hodgins somewhat.
Hodgins shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hodgins swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson.
Adam Hodgins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hodgins closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Hodgins pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Hodgins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Hodgins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jackson smiles and moves away.
Jackson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Jackson has closed the distance and engaged Hodgins in a clinch.

Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Hodgins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hodgins looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jackson feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Hodgins crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
