PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colin Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Desmond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barron comes to the cage accompanied by Ave Satani. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barron clinches up against the cage.
Barron lands a shoulder strike.
Desmond tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Barron just stands there and leans against the cage.

Barron throws a punch but it's blocked by Desmond.
Barron tries to work over Desmond's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Barron can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Desmond is looking to escape.

Desmond bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Barron is looking for a triangle but Desmond pushes his legs off easily.

Desmond might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Barron kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Barron is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Desmond is aware though and is defending well.

Desmond shoots in looking for a takedown. Barron tries to sprawl out of it but Desmond keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barron manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Colin Barron has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik Desmond.

Desmond throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Desmond throws a jab but it's blocked by Barron.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Barron.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barron sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Barron has taken the fight to the clinch.
Desmond is trying to drag Barron to the mat but Barron just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Barron misses with a punch on the inside.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Barron throws a punch but it's blocked by Desmond.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Erik Desmond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Barron counters with a head kick.

Barron darts in and clinches Desmond up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Desmond blocks an uppercut.

Desmond manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Barron not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Barron wants to get up but he can't break Desmond's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Barron got a little sloppy there for a moment and Desmond has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barron has managed to get both his arms back between Desmond's legs - danger averted.

Desmond escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barron gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Barron wants to pass the guard but Desmond is keeping the position.

enabling Barron to counter with a crisp jab.

Barron swings wildly with an uppercut but Desmond uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barron lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Barron pushes Desmond back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Desmond tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Barron smiles and moves away.
Barron tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Barron slips under a jab.
Barron throws a front kick that sends Desmond stumbling back into the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barron moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Barron fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Desmond has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Desmond is breathing heavily.
Desmond throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Barron lands with a kick to the temple. Desmond shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Barron fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Colin Barron is winning the standup battle so far.
Barron buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That kick from Barron tenderised Desmond's leg. Desmond is trying to keep his angry face on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Barron pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A slapping leg kick lands for Barron.
Desmond blocks a jab.
Barron takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Barron connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Barron lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Barron lands with a good body shot.
Barron is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Desmond can do to turn this around?
Barron feints and then cracks Desmond's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Desmond down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Barron checks a leg kick.
Desmond takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Desmond walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Barron checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Desmond looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Desmond on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Barron moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Barron throws a head kick that half lands.
Desmond tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Some bone on bone action there as Barron checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Barron counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Desmond on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Barron. Barron obviously looking to wear him down.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Barron fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Desmond, pushing him back against the cage.
Barron lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Barron lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Desmond backwards.

Desmond is still on wobbly legs! Can Barron finish him?
Barron lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Colin Barron has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Barron misses with some punches.
Desmond tries to pull guard but Barron holds him up against the cage and eventually Desmond drops back down to his feet.
Barron creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Desmond with a big uppercut! Desmond tries to clinch up but Barron pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Desmond to the mat! Desmond covers up and Barron unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Colin Barron!
