PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bertrand Escher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Spock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spock comes into a darkened arena with his song building. 2000 Light Years kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escher takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Escher fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Spock avoids it really well and circles away.
Escher thows a body shot but no joy.
Spock displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Escher.

Escher throws a hook but Spock avoids it easily.

Escher misses with a kick to the body.
Spock swings for the body but Escher moves out of range.
Escher fails with a takedown attempt.

Spock dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Escher. That did some damage!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Spock throws a leg kick which misses Escher's front leg but catches the back leg as Escher tries to avoid it.

Escher has a takedown stuffed.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Spock - that will leave a mark!
Spock throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Spock connects with a good right hand that stumbles Escher. Escher circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Mister Spock seems to be getting the better of the standup.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spock looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Escher throws a body kick, spinning off balance
enabling Spock to counter with a crisp jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mister Spock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Spock gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Escher to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Spock utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Escher drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Spock manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Escher has Spock in his guard.

Spock wants to control from the top but Escher keeps moving.

Escher wants to hit a switch here but Spock passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Escher there!
Bertrand Escher has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mister Spock is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Escher tries to hold on but Spock pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Escher is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
