Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Duo Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anzor Azhiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maxwell comes into the arena with Can't Stop blaring out of the sound system. Anzor Azhiev told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Duo Maxwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anzor Azhiev!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azhiev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Maxwell throws out the jab.
Maxwell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Azhiev counters with a nice double leg into side control. Maxwell won't be happy with that.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Azhiev is trying to ground and pound but Maxwell uses the momentary lack of control by Azhiev to regain half guard.
Azhiev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Maxwell knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Azhiev tries to stand and escape but Maxwell is controlling the position.
Azhiev trying to control the action but Maxwell is working from the bottom.
Azhiev content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Azhiev might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Anzor Azhiev was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Azhiev scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Azhiev tries to advance to mount but Maxwell denies him.
Azhiev trying to control the position but Maxwell is working away.
Azhiev stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Azhiev stuffs the takedown.
Azhiev throws a nice looking combination but Maxwell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Maxwell throws a series of punches but Azhiev moves out of range.
Azhiev tries to clinch but Maxwell moves away
and Maxwell counters with a shoot takedown. Azhiev fights it but they end up in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Azhiev controlling the position.
Maxwell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Azhiev is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Maxwell frees his head nicely. Oh but Azhiev has switched to an armbar! Maxwell is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
