Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller comes into the arena with Drowning Pool - Step Up blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Paul!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Paul's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller lands a couple of digs.
Miller is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Paul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Miller content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Paul is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Paul is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Paul tries to lock up and control but Miller gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Paul is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Miller dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Miller fails to land the takedown.
Paul slips a jab and a cross from Miller.
Paul tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Miller looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dave Miller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Paul lands with a nice combination. Miller backs away looking to recover.
Paul throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Paul, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Paul against the cage but Paul circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Miller uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Paul.
Miller shoots in but no luck this time.

Paul avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Miller shoots in and drives through. Paul sprawls well.
Paul fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Miller manages to avoid it.
Miller shoots in looking for a takedown. Paul tries to sprawl out of it but Miller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Paul manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Miller shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Miller was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Dave Miller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Miller cracks Paul with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
