Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt McGirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGirk has chosen This Is Who I Am as his entrance music. Dirt McGirk struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dirt McGirk!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castle needs to keep his hands up - McGirk had a free shot at his head there.
Some wild striking there from Castle.
Castle takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Castle throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McGirk counters with a straight right hand.
Castle looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A decent looking cross lands there for McGirk.
Castle takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Castle tries to close the distance and clinch up but McGirk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McGirk lands a slapping body shot.
Castle throws the kick towards the body but McGirk avoids it.
McGirk circles away from the clinch attempt.
Castle connects with a high kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Danga de danga de dang - McGirk scores with a four punch combination!
McGirk leaves Castle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Castle shoots in but McGirk avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Castle swats away the attempt to clinch by McGirk.

Castle drops his hands momentarily and McGirk takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
McGirk leaves Castle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Castle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGirk feints a jab promting Castle to slip. McGirk then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Castle slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


Castle is rocked!


It looks like Max Castle has been cut.
McGirk throws a series of strikes that have Castle backpedaling.
Oh Castle is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
McGirk fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Castle seems to have got his legs back now.
Castle misses with a hook.
Castle takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Castle tries to clinch up but McGirk circles away and keeps his distance.

Castle rushes McGirk and presses him up against the cage.

Castle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McGirk wants to clinch up but Castle keeps it at a distance.
McGirk moves into range and connects with a jab.

Castle clinches up with McGirk and pushes him back against the cage.
McGirk is trying to force a seperation but Castle has the dominant position.
Castle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McGirk pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McGirk tries to break free but Castle pushes him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Castle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Castle gets a takedown into half guard.
Castle looks to land a strike but McGirk avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
McGirk wants to stand but Castle is controlling the position.
Castle wants to control from the top but McGirk keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Castle postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Castle trying to move into half guard but instead McGirk has managed to sweep!

McGirk stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Castle misses with a hook.
Castle fakes the leg kick and cracks McGirk in the body.
McGirk avoids a kick to the body.
Castle drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

McGirk breaks the clinch.
McGirk lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Max Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGirk circles away from the clinch attempt.
McGirk scores with a nice strike.

Castle fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McGirk, pushing him back against the cage.
McGirk tries to break the clinch but Castle is controlling the position.

Castle breaks the clinch.
McGirk scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Castle doesn't seem bothered though.
Castle swinging wildly here.
McGirk changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Castle takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Dirt McGirk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Castle takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Castle shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McGirk sprawls well. McGirk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Castle gets slowly back to his feet.
McGirk takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Castle.
Castle is breathing heavily.

Castle instigates a clinch.
McGirk tries to throw a body punch but Castle avoids it by throwing McGirk back against the cage.

McGirk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Castle gets cracked with a nice right hand there by McGirk.
McGirk moves into range and connects with a jab.
McGirk misses with the combination.
McGirk with a body punch. A glancing blow.
McGirk is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Castle had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGirk connects with a good right hand that stumbles Castle. Castle circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Castle's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McGirk connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Castle scrambles back to his feet.
McGirk lands a jab to the nose.
Castle throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice takedown defense from McGirk. No joy for Castle on that attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirt McGirk dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Max Castle's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McGirk bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Castle's head backwards.
Castle is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
McGirk is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McGirk leaves Castle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Max Castle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McGirk dips to his left and cracks Castle with an uppercut!
