The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cardy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Young to the mat! Young manages to get full guard.
Young looking for a sweep. Not yet Young, not yet.
Young keeping full guard, as Cardy tries to pass.
Young on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Young tries to get out of the position.
Cardy won't allow Young to sweep him here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Young wants to stand but Cardy is controlling the position.
Young doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Cardy throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Young ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cardy moves away.
Cardy throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Young.

Young scores with a one two! Cardy had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Young holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cardy cracks Young with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Cardy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Young works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Young lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Cardy is looking to close the distance but Young sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Cardy crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Cardy is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
