7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cain Marco! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marcolini thows a leg kick but Marco checks it and Marco counters with a nice leg kick. Marcolini throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Marcolini tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Marco paws at him with a jab and circles away. Marcolini thuds a left hand into Marco's body. Marco feints and as Marcolini raises his hands in defense, Marco changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Marcolini looking to control.

Marcolini is landing with some decent strikes but Marco is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Marcolini tries to control but Marco wriggling away. Marcolini punishing his opponent with strikes. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Marcolini trying to control but Marco is having none of it. Marco is trying desperately to improve position. Marcolini can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marco is looking to escape. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Marcolini controlling from the full mount. Marco really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Marco is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Marcolini trying to control but Marco is having none of it. Marcolini lands with some strikes. Marcolini tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marco can do anything to dispel that myth. Marco tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marcolini is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Marco can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Marcolini prevents Marco from getting the reversal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marcolini blocks Marco's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Marco in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Marcolini scores with a couple of good head shots there.

A big strike lands for Marcolini! That's really hurt Marco and he's turned his back - Marcolini keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Marcolini jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
